Writing Tips - Using Meditative Essay Topics

Writing Tips - Using Meditative Essay TopicsIn the course of preparing my next book, I noticed that my first drafts were all too often written around meditative essay topics. Meditative essay topics are about as broad and varied as they can get, and they include everything from writing about landscape, to writing about life experiences. The topics I was writing on ranged from the mundane (how I felt when my husband left for work) to the deeply personal (how I felt when my husband died). While it is always a good idea to select topics with a variety of perspectives, meditative essay topics can seem far too vague. They aren't topics you want to end up bored of. If you don't know what the topic is supposed to be about, you won't have any direction or inspiration to keep writing. And if you do know the topic but are so engrossed in it that you lose track of what your main point is, then you will lose the story that's been left in your head by your thoughts. That's why the trick is to pick meditative essay topics with very specific guidelines. For example, I had started thinking about writing about how I felt after I had watched the movie 'The Magician' with my friend Marie. A few minutes into the movie, the woman played by Marion Cotillard decided to take off her top in the middle of a crowd and expose her breasts for all to see. It was completely unexpected and really took me by surprise. My initial thought was, 'What the heck, this was really going to happen! I wonder if she'll do it again.'Now, I am not saying that this is necessarily a bad thing, but I made a big mistake because I found myself so deeply engrossed in the event that I simply lost track of my goal. You see, that is why meditative essay topics are so important: because you need to create an outline, or a storyboard, to guide you through the process. Once you begin writing, it is very easy to get lost in the flow of it all.As a result, I set up a storyboarding structure which dictated how I was going to frame each scene and put in points of interest and events that further shaped my thoughts. This way, I had an outline that guided me along the way, making it much easier to continue the story after the scenes I'd already written.I would highly recommend that you start using meditative essay topics more often, particularly if you write a lot. It makes writing much easier, and just like a storyboard, it keeps your mind focused on the purpose of your article. And when your purpose is clear, then there is no reason why your thoughts can't converge in the end, bringing your thoughts to a head.Meditative essay topics can even be utilized in connection with any other writing style. Some people have said that meditative essay topics help to give them direction, while others feel the opposite. The key is to be consistent and create an outline that works for you. Now, you may say that this is another limitation of meditative essay topics: you can't directly apply them to any one particular type of article. However, I highly recommend that you try it and make it a part of your article writing. It may become one of your most productive and interesting habits.
